Hey there! I’m Ram Tamez, a Mexican 2D animation filmmaker living in Paris. I have a deep love for storytelling and cinema, but I also understand the attention to detail and planning that animation requires to bring a story to life.
I come from a drawing/painting and music-oriented background, and these disciplines have given me a solid understanding of the fundamentals of art, composition, contrast, design, and timing—all crucial concepts in the craft of filmmaking.
From 2011 to 2018, I worked with several production houses in Mexico, collaborating with studios like Disney TV, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. During this time, I contributed to 2D animation, storyboarding, character design, layout, and concept art. I was also fortunate to direct and supervise animation teams.
In 2020, with the help of a scholarship from Guillermo del Toro, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Character Animation and Filmmaking from Gobelins, l'école de l'image. There, I directed the short film LA BESTIA, which went on to win Best Student Film at the Annie Awards in 2021.
More recently, I’ve worked as a 2D animator on Genndy Tartakovsky's PRIMAL and Scavengers Regin by Titmouse, Inc. & Green Street Pictures. Currently, I’m freelancing and collaborating with various animation studios while also developing my next personal project.
Additionally, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge through my Mentorship Program, where I help other artists sharpen their animation skills.
